"According to Helen Fitch Emery’s seminal study "The Puritan Village Evolves: A History of Wayland, Massachusetts," "The Lokers were to turn out to be the most durable and long-lasting founding family in the town. As late as 1953, William A. (‘Toke’) Loker, the seventh generation from the first John Loker … was serving as the chairman of Wayland’s board of selectmen."
